Mohamed Salah explains why he is desperate to win Premier League as Liverpool uncertainty remains

Liverpool icon Mohamed Salah has outlined his desperation to win the Premier League

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah says he is ‘desperate’ to win the Premier League so he can experience another parade with the supporters. The Reds sit 13 points clear at the top-flight summit after picking up back-to-back wins as nearest challengers Arsenal failed to keep pace.

The Egyptian has admitted that his motivation has shifted from earning European crowns to tasting domestic success in the Premier League. Liverpool’s last and only triumph came in 2020 after a formidable campaign was temporarily curtailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic

As a result, Liverpool’s celebrations were muted due to the restrictions, but Arne Slot’s first campaign in charge poses the best opportunity to be crowned English champions in a number of years

In a feature with Optus Sport, Salah, who is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and is yet to sign an extension, was handed a series of photographs to discuss from his Chelsea days to his recent Liverpool outings. One of the images was of the parade in 2019 after the Reds beat Tottenham Hotspur to win the Champions League.

The 32-year-old revealed that he is using the memories of their previous triumphs as inspiration for their title charge.

It’s an incredible day [Liverpool trophy parade], that’s why I’m really desperate to win the Premier League with the club now, just have the same day as this one,” said Salah. “It’s going to be unforgettable because I know how much it means to win the Premier League.

“I just want to win the Premier League with the city and the fans. To experience that day and go on the parade in the city, it’s going to be incredible.”

Before he added: “The biggest motivation is to win the Premier League. Not even the Champions League, I always chose the Champions League, for seven years I always said Champions League. This is the first year I say the Premier League!
