Liverpool are likely to sign a new centre-forward this summer as they aim to replace Darwin Nunez.
Liverpool seem to be running out of patience with Darwin Nunez and are now in active talks with Napoli to find him a way out. While that situation develops, the club is keeping a careful eye on the market, looking for the right striker to step in.
Alexander Isak is the ideal target, but Newcastle aren’t interested in selling. Even if they were, it would take well over £100 million to make it happen, which makes the whole idea unlikely. Hugo Ekitike has also been linked as an option, but he’s expensive too, and there are doubts about whether he’s ready to lead the line at a club like Liverpool.
That might push Arne Slot to look elsewhere. With Viktor Gyokeres on his way to Arsenal and RB Leipzig not willing to sell Benjamin Sesko, attention now turns to a more surprising option—Dusan Vlahovic at Juventus.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus are considering terminating Vlahovic’s contract, which would make him a free agent this summer. That’s a major twist. There would still be costs involved—especially his wages—but Liverpool might be tempted by the fact there’s no transfer fee. In a tough striker market, that’s a rare opportunity.
Vlahovic joined Juventus from Fiorentina back in 2022 and has scored 58 goals in 145 appearances, with 17 coming last season. He’s still only 25 and has the kind of profile that could work well under Slot. Strong, physical, left-footed—he’s the kind of presence that can lead the line and offer something different up top.
Even if Liverpool choose to wait another year for Isak—maybe hoping he doesn’t sign a new deal with Newcastle—Vlahovic could be a useful stop-gap. Or more than that, if he settles and finds form in England.
Former Juve forward Roberto Boninsegna described him best last October: “He’s strong, massive, he fills the gap up front, he’s a reference point, he’s a courageous left-footer. A good centre-forward.”
Vlahovic might not be the headline signing fans are dreaming of, but his situation is definitely one to watch.
