This comes amid what’s being described as a “powerful summer of investment,” with Liverpool also progressing in their £70m pursuit of Hugo Ekitike. Slot clearly isn’t resting on early success.
Hato is considered one of the brightest young defenders in Europe and would be a major boost to Slot’s backline, especially as injuries and rotation become factors over a long campaign.
While Wataru Endo can fill in defensively, he’s now viewed more as a late-game option to help Liverpool close matches — not a reliable solution to start back-to-back high-intensity games.
If Liverpool can land Hato, they’ll have addressed one of the few gaps left in the squad. It’s a move that could help Slot’s men push even further next season — especially with a player many already see as a future star.
