Cody Gakpo’s Liverpool future now lies in the balance after major Fabrizio Romano update

Cody Gakpo is one of many Liverpool players who have received plaudits for the way they’ve performed this season

Cody Gakpo can’t leave this summer — it’s that simple.

Under Arne Slot, the Dutchman has stepped up big time, proving his worth both out wide and through the middle. He’s not just filling in — he’s leading the line. And alongside Luis Diaz, he’s been one of the Reds’ most productive attackers this season. Only Mo Salah has done more. That says everything.

But now, the vultures are circling. And with Gakpo in red-hot form, you can’t blame them. Bayern Munich, for one, are watching closely — especially with Leroy Sané reportedly off to Galatasaray. Fabrizio Romano’s already hinted the move is nearly done. That leaves a big hole in Bayern’s squad… and Gakpo could be the one they’re eyeing to fill it.

Let’s be honest — Liverpool are heading into a summer of major changes. Diaz and Darwin Nunez are already linked with moves away. Al-Hilal are asking questions about Darwin, and Diaz has long been on Barcelona’s radar. If either of them goes, that’s a blow. If both go? That’s a disaster.

Now imagine throwing Gakpo into that mix too. Suddenly, Slot’s starting his first full season with a frontline in tatters.

This is why Gakpo must stay. Not just because he’s a talented player, but because Liverpool can’t afford to lose their attacking core all at once. Unless there’s a world-class forward already lined up to walk through the door, selling Gakpo would be a massive, unnecessary risk.

You build around players like him. You don’t let them walk.
