Liverpool stepping up interest in £40m Lyon star who is desperate to follow in Mohamed Salah’s footsteps at Anfield

Liverpool have already been one of the busiest teams in the transfer window this summer

Liverpool’s Transfer Window Is Finally Heating Up — Malick Fofana Now on the Radar

Let’s be honest — it’s been a while since Liverpool really got stuck into a transfer window. Last season? Two signings. And only one of them actually stuck around instead of heading straight out on loan. Not exactly headline-grabbing stuff.

But this summer? Feels different. The Reds look ready to do some proper business. Jeremie Frimpong’s already walked through the door at Anfield, and the rumour mill is absolutely flying — just the way we like it.

Fofana the Latest Big-Name Link — and He’s Keen

The latest name doing the rounds is Malick Fofana. According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are now ‘keen’ on the Lyon winger and have made him one of their ‘prime’ targets for the summer.

He won’t come cheap — Lyon reportedly want around £40 million for the 19-year-old — but that hasn’t stopped the queue from forming. Arsenal, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, and Juventus are all sniffing around too.

Still, there might be a slight edge in Liverpool’s favour.

Agent Already Teasing a Move to Anfield

Fofana’s agent didn’t exactly play it cool earlier this year. Back in March, he came out and said that playing for Liverpool would be a dream move for the young Belgian. He even name-dropped Salah and Mane, suggesting Fofana wants to follow in their footsteps. That’s music to any Red’s ears.

Sure, agents love to stir the pot — wouldn’t be the first time someone’s hyped up a player’s Anfield ambition just to get a bigger deal elsewhere. But still, with how this summer’s shaping up, this one actually feels like it could happen.

What Happens Next?

It’s tough to tell right now. The window’s only just opened, and things are moving fast. Luis Díaz looks like the most likely to leave — Barcelona already tried and failed with one bid, but more could come.

If he does go, Liverpool will need a direct, fearless replacement. And Fofana certainly ticks a few boxes.

For now though, all eyes are on Florian Wirtz. That deal looks close, and getting it done should be the priority.

But don’t be shocked if Fofana ends up being more than just paper talk. The signs are there — and if he wants it, and Liverpool want it, maybe it’s just a matter of time.
