Liverpool have reportedly agreed personal terms with Florian Wirtz and Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer says the midfielder is ‘probably leaning towards’ a move to Anfield
Federico Chiesa has shown his support for Liverpool’s transfer pursuit of Florian Wirtz by ‘liking’ a social media post about it.
Bayern Munich’s Herbert Hainer has conceded that the 22-year-old is ‘leaning towards’ a move to Anfield, despite their own interest. Arne Slot’s team is currently in discussions with Bayer Leverkusen about acquiring their star playmaker, a deal which could break Liverpool’s record transfer fee.
The Reds have emerged as contenders alongside Manchester City and the Bundesliga giants, after expressing their interest, but it now seems they are now leading the race for Wirtz’s signature.
Wirtz is presently on holiday following the end of Leverkusen’s season last weekend, after a 2-2 draw with FSV Mainz. However, a deal is wanted to be done swiftly before he joins up with Germany for their UEFA Nations League double-header in June.
One member of the current Liverpool squad has been active on social media as rumors increase that Wirtz’s preferred destination is Anfield. Chiesa appeared to like a post from Fabrizio Romano, who reported that a ‘total agreement’ on personal terms had been reached between Liverpool and the German youngster.
The Italian international was one of the 1.4 million Instagram users who liked the post. This comes amidst an escalating transfer chase from Liverpool, which has ramped up in recent days.
The Reds made a stir in the transfer market on Friday, contacting a high-profile player with their sights set firmly on the 2025/26 season, keen to retain their title as Premier League champions.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich seems to have abandoned hope of snagging Florian Wirtz from Leverkusen, once favorites for his signature.
