Benjamin Sesko might have just opened the door for Liverpool to move for him this summer

Benjamin Sesko is one of the most in-demand strikers in Europe this summer, with Liverpool one of the clubs chasing the RB Leipzig

The Slovenian international has enjoyed yet another productive season in the Bundesliga with the former RB Salzburg star currently on 21 goals in all competitions, with Liverpool now preparing to bid for Sesko with the summer transfer window weeks away from opening.

With Darwin Nunez expected to leave Liverpool, a new leading man in the attack is needed during the off-season, with Sesko ticking all the boxes Arne Slot will be looking out for when it comes to signing a new striker in the market.

And the striker himself might have just made things easier for Liverpool after recent comments from Sesko

Benjamin Sesko says ‘anything can happen’ when asked about his future

Speaking to Sky Sport Germany, Sesko admitted that ‘anything can happen’ this summer in regards to his future, with the striker saying: “Right now, I’m 100% focused on RB Leipzig. Then we’ll see what happens. It’s open, anything can happen.”

Indeed, Sesko’s comment might seem like a cliche for any player who knows he will be in demand going into a transfer window, but the Leipzig star’s admission could give Liverpool the excuse they need to move for the attacker in the summer.

Jamie Carragher addressed after the Carabao Cup final that Liverpool need two attackers this transfer window if they’re to go one further than their Premier League title win this season, with domestic cups and success in Europe a priority for Slot.

And signing a striker like Sesko, regarded for his physicality and athleticism, could help Liverpool reach that goal next season, especially with the forward now dropping hints that he could be open to leaving Leizpig in the transfer window.

Liverpool have to beat Premier League rivals to sign Benjamin Sesko

Sesko’s stock has quietly risen this season after his first 20+ goal season in a first-tier division, with Liverpool’s interest in the attacker more than justified given his development at Leipzig this campaign under the now-sacked Marco Rose.

Yet with the likes of Arsenal also chasing Sesko, Liverpool need to ensure that they can beat their Premier League rivals to Sesko’s signature, with the Slovenian international set to be a highly in-demand player.

Liverpool fans know they need a lethal striker if they’re to challenge again next season, and Sesko can be that man for the Reds if an agreement can be reached in the coming weeks with Leipzig.
