Liverpool preparing ‘serious offer’ for Aston Villa ace now ‘top’ of Reds’ shortlist

An Aston Villa ace has shot to ‘the top of Liverpool’s transfer list’ and the Reds are preparing a ‘serious offer’ for his services, according to a report

**Liverpool Eyeing Major Changes with Attacking Shake-Up on the Horizon**

Significant changes are expected at Anfield this summer, as Liverpool prepares for a busy transfer window marked by high-profile departures and potential marquee signings.

One of the most notable moves could come in the forward line, with reports from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano suggesting that Darwin Nunez is likely to leave the club. Luis Diaz may also be on his way out, with a “strong possibility” that he could follow Nunez through the exit door.

Given this potential overhaul in attack, Liverpool are expected to invest heavily in new offensive talent. One of the emerging targets is Hugo Ekitike of Eintracht Frankfurt, who is reportedly being considered as a central striker option. Meanwhile, attention is also turning to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who is fast becoming one of the club’s top priorities.

According to *Empire of the Kop*, Liverpool are highly impressed by the 22-year-old forward, who has delivered 14 goals and 13 assists this season—an impressive 27 goal contributions overall. His performances have reportedly pushed him to the top of Liverpool’s summer shortlist.

After a quiet few transfer windows, during which the Reds signed just one outfield player, the club now appears ready to spend. The report claims Liverpool are preparing a “serious offer” for Rogers, though the specific figures involved have not yet been disclosed.

What’s clear, however, is that Aston Villa will not let Rogers go for the bargain fee they originally paid—£8 million rising to £15 million with add-ons—when they signed him from Middlesbrough 18 months ago. Spanish outlets, though not always the most reliable, have suggested Villa could now value the player at around £70 million.

**Why Rogers Appeals to Liverpool**

The *Empire of the Kop* report explains that Liverpool sees Rogers as a player ready to make an impact at the highest level. Club officials are said to be especially taken by his speed, dribbling ability, and knack for creating scoring opportunities.

Rogers’ versatility is another major asset. Under Unai Emery at Villa, he has been deployed in multiple attacking roles, including both wings and, most notably, as a No. 10 behind the striker—where he has arguably been at his best.

Liverpool reportedly views him as serious competition for Dominik Szoboszlai in that central attacking role.

**What This Could Mean for Harvey Elliott**

While Rogers’ arrival would boost Liverpool’s attacking options, it might spell trouble for Harvey Elliott. Despite delivering some promising performances off the bench, Elliott has struggled to cement a regular starting role under Arne Slot.

With Mohamed Salah recently signing a two-year contract extension, Elliott’s chances of seeing increased minutes on the right wing are slim. His other main position—attacking midfield—would be further crowded if both Szoboszlai and Rogers are in the mix.

If Liverpool decides not to pursue Rogers, an alternative option for the No. 10 role could be Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig—another highly rated young talent linked with a summer move to Anfield.
