Liverpool ready to make first move to sign ‘relentless Brazilian workhorse’ tracked by several top clubs

Liverpool’s summer is set to be a busy one, with numerous deals set to be made during the off-season

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid is likely to go through in a transfer that will force Liverpool to evolve once again next season without one of their key players, with Conor Bradley the favourite to replace the England international

With Liverpool eyeing as many as five signings, fans can expect plenty of change in the squad in virtually every position, with Arne Slot ready to bring in the players needed to help push the Reds to compete in the UEFA Champions League and to retain the Premier League title.

And Liverpool are now one of several teams now looking to make a move for one of the most exciting players in Serie A.

Liverpool willing to meet Atalanta’s demands for Ederson

According to Tutto Atalanta, Liverpool are one of a handful of top sides interested in signing Ederson, with the Reds willing to meet the Bergamo-based side’s €60m (£50m) valuation for the Brazilian midfielder.

Noted by Breaking The Lines as a ‘relentless Brazilian workhorse’, Ederson has been linked with Liverpool in the past, with South American establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in Italy in the last few years.

Although central midfield isn’t a priority for Liverpool this summer, the position could do with some improvements, especially with Harvey Elliott’s future at Anfield currently up in the air having spent most of the season on the bench.

And in Ederson, Liverpool could have a new tool in their box that will allow Slot greater tactical flexibility, a trait that the Dutch coach has been willing to show off whenever possible for the Reds this season since joining.

Ederson could be Liverpool’s secret weapon for next season

A Jack-of-all-trades midfielder who can excel in numerous roles, Ederson’s reputation has been more than earned in recent years at Atalanta, who this season have been one of the most entertaining sides to watch in Serie A.

And if Liverpool can beat the likes of Manchester United and Juventus to the 25-year-old’s signature, Ederson could become a secret weapon for the Reds given his ability to play both in an advanced midfield role as well as in a deeper position.

Indeed, Ederson offers a profile in Liverpool’s midfield that Slot currently doesn’t have at his disposal, and the Anfield side winning the race for the Brazilian this summer could be big in the Reds going one step further in their successes.
