The future of Luis Diaz remains up in the air at Liverpool
The Colombian forward has been a key part of Liverpool’s success since his move from FC Porto back in 2022 and remains so under Arne Slot, having featured in 44 games for the Reds this season, scoring 14 goals and assisting a further eight
Heading into the summer, Diaz is a player Liverpool could sell as the winger is out of contract at Anfield in 2027, and there is a chance the 28-year-old will not be offered a new deal due to his age.
It remains to be seen where the Colombian ends up as Saudi Arabian clubs are showing interest in Diaz and should the Reds forward leave, the Premier League leaders already have potential replacements lined up
The winger can play on both flanks and would be a very useful addition to Slot’s squad should Diaz depart Anfield during the summer.
Speaking to Anfield Index, David Lynch has stated that the Bournemouth star is a player Liverpool like and that the winger reminds him a bit of club legend Sadio Mane.
“I think he will be liked. I think every player who’s kind of performing as he is in the Premier League,” Lynch said. “He has got that experience. He’s around that age. He’s got great physical quality and quality of his feet, and there is just an awful lot to like about him
“I think he’s a really good player and I think he’s one of those who’s kind of on the cusp of really exploding and could be a top player for a top club.
“You know, he’s got very much kind of Sadio Mane vibes to me, so, yeah, wouldn’t be surprised at all if he’s on the list.
“But again, a lot of that counts on if Luis Diaz is going to leave and you know that is a possibility. I’m sure if Luis Diaz did leave, he’d be in the mix as he is a player who kind of ticks a lot of boxes
Antoine Semenyo could be an upgrade on Luis Diaz
Semenyo does tick a lot of boxes for Liverpool as the winger is young, can play on both wings and there is room for the 25-year-old to develop under Slot.
The Bournemouth star’s numbers this season have been impressive given he is not playing for one of the big clubs in England as Semenyo trumps Diaz in a lot of metrics.
With a contract at the Vitality Stadium until 2029, the signing of Semenyo could be pricey for interested parties as Bournemouth will not want to lose the winger during a summer when Liverpool-linked Milos Kerkez and Dean Huijsen could also leave the Premier League club.
It remains to be seen if the Merseyside outfit make an official move as there are other targets on their list with Liverpool also linked to Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens.
