Jeremie Frimpong to Liverpool: Reds ‘on the verge’ of £30m transfer for Trent Alexander-Arnold replacement

Liverpool are ‘on the verge’ of signing Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Reds’ need to enter the transfer market for a new right-back this summer has increased amid multiple reports that Alexander-Arnold is closing in on a move to Real Madrid, thus ending 18 months of speculation regarding his future

As Alexander-Arnold is out of contract at Anfield at the end of this season, barring a surprise turn of events where he signs an extension, he will be able to leave for free in the summer.

Liverpool could save millions on the England international’s replacement simply by promoting Conor Bradley, who has proven to be a capable understudy for Alexander-Arnold in the past two seasons

Though as pointed out by Steven McManaman, “Bradley is a completely different player to Trent Alexander-Arnold” from an attacking perspective and that may explain the links to Frimpong.

Capable of operating in any position on the right-hand side, Frimpong has been a consistent provider of goal contributions for Bayer Leverkusen

In fact, under the guidance of Liverpool great Xabi Alonso, the Dutchman has scored 25 goals and weighed in with 29 assists in 123 appearances across all competitions
