The future of Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool remains up in the air
The right-back is out of contract at Anfield at the end of the season and there has been no sign of a new deal being offered to the 26-year-old.
As a result, Real Madrid are heavily pursuing Alexander-Arnold, and many feel that the England international may be heading to Spain this summer.
This would leave Arne Slot needing a replacement. The problem for the Dutch coach is that the right-back is a generational talent and it will be almost impossible for the Reds to find another.
Experience would be the next best path to travel and that’s why the Merseyside club will have their eyes on the Bundesliga
Liverpool target Joshua Kimmich to decide on his future
Similar to Alexander-Arnold, Joshua Kimmich is out of contract at Bayern Munich at the end of the season, but his situation has played out in front of the public.
Bayern Munich withdrew a contract offer from Kimmich last week, which has sent speculation over his future crazy.
An update on the situation has now been provided by Bayern Munich’s Director of Sport Max Eberl, who has stated that a decision on the 30-year-old’s future will be made soon
As has often been said and confirmed, the talks were and are respectful and appreciative,” Eberl told BILD. “However, everyone also feels that a decision should be made soon.”
Liverpool have been linked to Kimmich in recent weeks and reportedly remain in contention for his signature alongside several clubs in Europe.
The German star would help fix a lot of problems in Slot’s squad, but is a move for the German star a smart decision
Joshua Kimmich should not be an option for Liverpool
Kimmich can play as a number six and at right-back which would be very beneficial to Slot should Alexander-Arnold leave Liverpool.
However, the German star is 30, therefore, that is a path the Merseyside club are unlikely to go down as it would be more beneficial to bring in a younger star and help develop them.
Liverpool will not match Kimmich’s salary at Bayern and being a free agent, the midfielder will expect his new club to at least come close to what he is earning at present.
There are many positives to bringing Kimmich to Anfield but the circumstances surrounding the German star is what is likely to turn the Premier League leaders off of a move heading into the 2025/26 campaign.
Conor Bradley is a star Slot has already shown faith in and should the right-back position open up this summer at Liverpool, the 21-year-old will be confident of making it his.
