‘Incredible’: John Barnes says Liverpool have another player who works just as hard as Dominik Szoboszlai

Dominik Szoboszlai has really come into his own at Liverpool in recent weeks.

Indeed, Dominik Szoboszlai was amongst the goals again against Newcastle on Wednesday evening, and Szoboszlai has earned serious praise this week off the back of his solid performances

Speaking on the Official Liverpool Podcast, John Barnes has chimed in to praise Szoboszlai as well.

Of course, Barnes picked out Szoboszlai’s energy and workrate as his greatest attribute, and, interestingly, he also said that Liverpool have another player who works just as hard.

Indeed, according to Barnes, Luis Diaz is another player at Liverpool who works just as hard as Szoboszlai.

Luis Diaz works as hard as Dominik Szoboszlai

Barnes spoke about how hard Szoboszlai works, making a similar claim about Luis Diaz.

The pundit says that Szoboszlai’s workrate is incredible, while he also hailed the Colombian for working just as hard as the Hungarian

His attitude is incredible because there are times, even when we’re playing well, in times when he doesn’t have to chase back. Because if he doesn’t chase back 100 miles an hour, no one will say, why isn’t he chasing back? Because you don’t see other players in other teams do that, but he takes it upon himself to do that,” Barnes said.

“I don’t think he’ll necessarily get criticised because after making a run, as with Diaz, such a long, lung-bursting 40-yard run, you’d forgive him for saying he’s tired, the ball doesn’t come, why is he chasing back? Luis Diaz does the same thing. So credit to them in terms of the attitude they actually have when they aren’t in possession.”

Dominik Szoboszlai record alongside Luis Diaz

Szoboszlai earned massive praise after his performance vs Newcastle, and Diaz was brilliant against the Magpies too.

Szoboszlai and Diaz are two of the hardest-working players in the Premier League, and Liverpool have a stellar record when these two have played together.

Liverpool are brilliant when Diaz and Szoboszlai are on the same pitch, but, interestingly, the midfielder’s goal against Newcastle on Thursday was the first time Diaz or Szoboszlai set the other player up for a goal.

Szoboszlai has been a tad more attack-minded in recent weeks for Liverpool, and perhaps this is a partnership that could grow and flourish at Anfield in the coming weeks as the Reds look to get the job done and secure the Premier League title
