Mohamed Salah was at it again at the weekend as he grabbed another goal and an assist against Manchester City
Salah may well break a number of records in the Premier League this season around goals and assists. However, there’s a lot more to his game than just what he does in the final third.
Speaking to BBC 606, Andy Robertson has been discussing Mohamed Salah’s performance against Manchester City, and he’s hailed the Egyptian for his work off the ball.
Indeed, Robertson says that Salah’s workrate was outstanding vs City and that it actually goes unnoticed
Mohamed Salah’s workrate goes unnoticed
Robertson spoke about Salah and how hard he works.
Jeremy Doku was a menace down that flank during the City game, but Salah did help Trent Alexander-Arnold on a number of occasions at right-back.
Interestingly, Robertson praised Salah’s workrate against City a few years ago too, and it’s fair to say that Salah is willing to put in the hard yards against City when he needs to
Roberto Firmino also praised Salah’s workrate a few years ago.
“But to this season, he’s took it to an even other level and things like that. So he’s a pleasure to play with. But I thought, you know, I’ve just been asked in an interview there, but I thought his work rate was outstanding.
“You know, he knew he had to help Trent on that side at times. He knew he had to do his defensive jobs as well. And that’s probably what goes a bit unnoticed with him.
“You know, obviously everyone focuses on the goals and assists because that’s the nice part of the job. But I thought his work rate was outstanding today. So he’s been fantastic for this football club
Mohamed Salah stats vs Manchester City
Salah put in a masterful performance against Manchester City, and the stats show it.
Indeed, the winger was brilliant on Sunday against Pep Guardiola’s side at both ends of the pitch.
Not only did Salah grab a goal and an assists, he made the joint-second most tackles of any Liverpool player too.
The winger worked his socks off against City, and at the age of 32, he showcased that he’s still one of the fittest and sharpest players in the Premier League.
Liverpool look to be champions-elect in the Premier League, and if Arne Slot’s side ultimately do become title-winners, Salah will have played a massive part in that.
Of course, Salah’s contract at Liverpool is up in the summer, and while contract talks are going well, the Reds need to make sure they manage to keep hold of their star player
